Vicom Unveils Broadband Initiative - Company Business and Marketing

Cambridge Telcom Report, March 20, 2000

Vicom Incorporated (VICM-BB: Nasdaq LOTC Bulletin Board) announced Monday that it has begun offering a new integrated broadband service for multi-unit dwellings. This service will be marketed through a new division, Multiband Inc., and will allow subscribers to receive local and long distance telephone service, satellite television service, and high-speed digital Internet access.

The majority of the expenses associated with the startup of this new division have been reflected in the Company's 1999 operating results. Vicom will offer this integrated service to apartment, condominium and similar multi-unit dwellings. The first broadband installation is scheduled for an April 2000 completion date.

The broadband service packages available will offer the additional services generally available within each feature, including call waiting, caller ID, call forwarding, and 10 other typical telephone services, as well as long distance service. The satellite service offers approximately 60 different broadcast stations including local stations and premium movie channels such as Home Box Office and Cinemax. Internet access will be available through high speed, reliable Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) access, at data transmission rates of up to 750kbps.

James L. Mandel, Vicom's Chief Executive Officer, stated, "Broadband access through multiple-dweller units is a significant business opportunity for Vicom. We view it as a promising way to increase market share and enhance margins."
