Swisscom Licenses Prepaid International Roaming Package to RentCell; easyRoam Provides Access to 214 Networks in 105 Countries - Company Business and Marketing - Brief Article

Cambridge Telcom Report, March 6, 2000

Swisscom (NYSE: SCM) the largest mobile operator in Switzerland and the leader in international roaming agreements, has licensed its easyRoam prepaid package to Atlanta-based RentCell, inc., (http://www.rentcell.com) the worldwide leader in short-term rental and sales of wireless phone products, according to company representatives. The announcement was made at the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association's Convention and Expo here.

Gordon Taylor, Swisscom's Washington-based Director General Mobile for North America (http://www.swisscom-na.com), said, "The easyRoam package is the fastest, easiest and least expensive way for RentCell customers to use their mobile phones when abroad. They simply take their easyRoam-enabled mobile phone with them to access more than 214 networks in 105 countries.

RentCell President Jeff Brahm said "With this agreement, we're able to provide customers such as Microsoft with the largest range of options available for their employees to send and receive calls when in overseas locations. The easyRoam technology adapts to GSM inter-standard handsets and allows credit balances to be recharged using scratch or credit cards," he said. Mr. Brahm also noted that the system's security, its ability to monitor costs and its advice-of-charges feature address key concerns of its corporate customers.

Mr. Taylor said that easyRoam is ideal for personnel who travel abroad frequently but irregularly. "It solves the problems of costly hotel access fees, cumbersome international calling card numbers or the regular monthly expenses of post-paid global mobile phones," he said.
