S-B chairman dies at 89 - Simmons-Boardman Publishing Corp - Arthur J. McGinnis Sr - Brief Article

Arthur J. McGinnis, Sr., 89, chairman of the Simmons-Boardman Publishing Corp-oration and a leader in trade magazine publishing for more than half a century, died on Oct. 5.
He went to work for Sin Simmons-Boardman in New York in 1940 as an associate editor of Railway Age, covering financial news. He became a financial officer of the company, gradually acquired control of it, and became its chief executive officer
Mr. McGinnis is survived by his son, Arthur J. McGinnis, Jr., current president of the company; his three daughters; Carolyn McGinnis, Patricia McGinnis and Kathleen (Mrs. Alfred A.) Stein; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
