Behind-the-cab rail gear

Railway Track and Structures, Feb, 2008

Mitchell Equipment Corporation has added a behind-the-cab Rail Gear for Ford F-450 and F-550 trucks to its line of Rail Gear. The new item is designed to allow a crew cab truck to operate on 80-ft curves. It is hydraulically raised and lowered by a single high-flow, self-contained hydraulic pump that is activated by cab-controlled electric switches. Both front and rear rail gear are equipped with automatic locks when the rail gear is raised or lowered. Indicating lights in the cab tell when the pins are engaged. Standard with precision-machined forged rail wheels. The front rail gear is equipped with disc brakes. The kit comes complete with mounting brackets, built-in de-rail skids and steering wheel lock. Phone: 734-529-3400.
