AREMA offering practical engineering guidebook - Industry Today - American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association - Brief Article

Railway Track and Structures, April, 2003

To help neophyte engineers entering the railroad industry, AREMA Committee 24 has assembled the Practical Guide to Railway Engineering, hundreds of pages of distilled wisdom and experience compiled by people who have spent many decades working on the track.

Committee members spent thousands of hours to produce the guide "to enable individuals not familiar with the railway industry to be conversant with railway operations and practices particular to railroads," acording to the book's Foreword.

This book in intended to present information in an easy-to-understand format to familiarize those who have not been exposed to the many nuances, terms, procedures and protocols of the railroad industry. It is not intended to take the place of the AREMA Manuals, which offer more detailed engineering studies and technical resources.

The Practical Guide is available for $124.95. See the AREMA section of any issue of RT&S for an order form.
