Landslide warning system - Products/Literature - Applied Geomechanics - Brief Article
Railway Track and Structures, June, 2001
SLOPE SENTRY from Applied Geomechanics Inc. is a landslide monitoring and early-warning system. The unit measures and records readings from three specific instrument types, Time Domain Reflectometry, electronic piezometers and in-place inclinometers. By combining these measurements, the system provides the location of slip planes, internal ground water pressures, and the rate and direction of slide movement. Alarm thresholds can be configured for each measurement point, triggering instant notification of excessive movement via pager or telephone. There are several different telemetry options, including cell phone, phone modem and radio, for remote data collection and processing. The rugged system includes datalogger, power supply, software and communications via direct cable connection.
