Willis Re, the reinsurance unit of insurance broker Willis Group Holdings has appointed STEPHEN H. DARWIN to its Northeast treaty team, the company has announced. As a senior vice president, he will be responsible for producing and placing casualty treaty business. Before joining Willis Re, Darwin was an excess and surplus and umbrella manager at Converium Reinsurance, North America (formerly Zurich Reinsurance).

At Converium he was responsible for reunderwriting their special casualty book as well as producing and underwriting new business. He also managed Converium's national casualty facultative certificate business and opened and managed the Zurich Re Boston branch. He began his reinsurance career as a underwriter at Skandia America Reinsurance in 1985 in New York City.
