The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission released the number of discrimination charges, by type of discrimination, that it received in FY 2004, along with the monetary benefits recovered for charging parties and other aggrieved individuals during that term (which doesn't include monetary benefits obtained through litigation).

27,696 charges filed $61.1 million recovered

Sex-Based Discrimination

24,249 charges filed $100.8 million recovered

Retaliation Discrimination

22,740 charges filed $90 million recovered

Age Discrimination

17,837 charges filed $60.0 million recovered

Disability Discrimination

15,376 charges filed $47.7 million recovered

Sexual Harassment

13,136 charges filed $37.1 million recovered

National Origin Discrimination

8,361 charges filed $22.3 million recovered

Pregnancy-Based Discrimination

4,512 charges filed $11.3 million recovered

Religious Discrimination

2,466 charges filed $6.0 million recovered

Compensation Discrimination

1,011 charges filed $6.4 million recovered
