Risk & Insurance, April 1, 2002

Neenah, Wisconsin-based J. J. Keller & Associates Inc. has added an online Forms Resource Center to its safety and regulatory products and services Web site. The forms cover transportation, workplace safety, and hazmat areas. Samples of hundreds of safety and compliance forms are available at www.jjkeller.com/forms. There are 17 forms categories available, from driver qualifications and vehicle maintenance to training and hazardous/nonhazardous waste. Within each category is a list of available forms, as well as basic information regarding each form. The site also features links to articles covering the latest compliance news, and links to Keller's other products and services.

Keller's Web site also provides training materials, information on seminars, news and information, and a trial download of KellerOnline, the company's Internet-based interactive safety management tool.

Weather has long been the blame for disappointing results on the company bottom line. No more, thanks to QuantWeather, an information service from London-based I-WeX, a joint venture between Intelligent Financial Systems Ltd., Willis, and the London International Financial Futures Exchange. QuantWeather (www.quantweather.com), provides the necessary tools to help businesses assess in detail how weather affects their income, operations, and profits. Weather and climate data is available to registered subscribers. User-defined data sets are available for download and can be incorporated into the customer's own information systems. The Web site currently provides 40 years of historical data--temperature, precipitation wind and snow data--sampled both daily and hourly from more than 8,000 locations worldwide. Other features of the site include access to daily updating historical datasets worldwide; the ability to download historical weather data in a variety of customizable formats; sophisticated search capabili ty that allows the user to find individual stations as well as search for suitable backup candidates; detailed weather station history including station moves, background and quality control data; functionality that allows the user to visualize weather station moves and adjust data records to account for them; online statistical analysis and basic pricing models.
