HUGE HOTEL OPENS IN NAGOYA

A 780-room hotel has opened in the Japanese city of Nagoya. The Marriott-run establishment is part of the JR Central Towers building, which is directly above the railway station. Bullet trains run from there to Tokyo and Osaka in 90 minutes and 45 minutes, respectively. The Marriott Associa Hotel offers voice mail in all rooms, plus dual telephone lines and data ports. Executive rooms have fax machines. The hotel, which is Marriott's seventh in Japan, has a business centre where guests can access the internet via PCs and use printers. The company has also opened 179 serviced, extended-stay apartments in India's Mumbai.

SINGAPORE GETS GIANT SPA

Asia's largest spa is set to open in Singapore in August. The Westin Singapore is opening the Amrita Spa, located on three floors of Raffles City, and offers a range of treatments for the travel-weary. There will be a reflexology pond, a roof-top garden, mineral treatments, facial masks, body potions and traditional massages, bath and body oils, yoga, tai chi, kimonos, scented towels and aromatherapy candles. www.westinsingapore.com
