BUSINESS TRAVEL is a last-minute proposition, according to new research carried out. Fifty-two per cent of business travellers plan their trips within two weeks of departure, according to the recent study conducted on behalf of internet travel portal, LastMinuteTravel.com. The research surveyed nearly 1300 internet users and found also that 49 per cent of business travellers define last-minute travel as departing within 24 hours, that 29 per cent of them use the internet to purchase travel and that 67 per cent plan to buy travel on the internet within the next year.

MORE ADVICE to beat jet lag. We know long hours of prolonged sifting in a plane, no matter how luxurious, can leave business travellers stressed, stiff and sore. Chiropractors are issuing the following advice. The advice is to treat travel as an athletic event. Warm up before settling into the plane seat and cool down on reaching the destination. Take a brisk walk to stretch hamstring and calf muscles. Also try standing up straight and feeling the normal S curve of the spine, then use rolled-up pillows or blankets to maintain that curve when sitting. Tuck a pillow behind the back and just above the beltline and lay another pillow across the gap between the neck and headrest. Check-in all bags heavier than 5 to 10 per cent of body weight; overhead lifting of any significant amount of weight should be avoided to reduce the risk of pain in the lower hack or neck. And avoid sitting directly under the air controls. The draft can increase tension in neck and shoulder muscles.
