Symbol of Korea's promising future - Ritz-Carlton in Seoul

Business Asia, August 17, 1998

Just as the ancient 14th Century South Gate stands as a monument to Korea's past, The Ritz-Carlton, Seoul, symbolises the country's promising future.

The strikingly contemporary hotel occupies a prominent location south of the Han River in the capital city's thriving commercial and residential district in Kangnam.

Convenient to Kimpo International Airport, The Ritz-Carlton is the first major hotel to open since the 1988 Summer Olympic Games.

Located near the Korea Exhibition Centre (KOEX), the Korea World Trade Centre and the Olympic Stadium, the hotel's two-wing exterior is linked by a glass-enclosed walkway.

The interior and exterior design of The Ritz-Carlton is ultra modern.

The six-storey, atrium-style lobby features a dramatic waterfall illuminated at night. The hotel's extensive international art collections reflect the modern look and feel of the surroundings.

Guest rooms and suites feature transitional style furnishings, using light fruitwood finishes and soothing, natural colours. The 18-storey hotel includes 400 guest rooms with 47 suites. Three floors offer club amenities and privileges.

In the Club Lounge, five complimentary food presentations are offered from continental breakfast to after-dinner cordials and chocolates.

A small board room offers privacy for business meetings. The multi-lingual concierge staff are available for making travel arrangements or handling special requests.

The 24-hour business centre is complete with private meeting rooms with video conferencing equipment, personal work stations with Macintosh computers and printers, and a private secretarial service by multi-lingual staff

A fully equipped Fitness Centre occupies two floors of The Ritz-Carlton. From an Olympic-size swimming pool to an enclosed golf driving range, the 30,000 square feet facility offers high quality recreational and spa/beauty features.

Dining at The Ritz-Carlton runs the gamut of ethnic to trend-setting. The cuisine of Canton is on the menu at Cheehong; and, for a taste of Tokyo, Hanazono's sushi bar, tepanyaki grill and tatami rooms offer the best of Japanese dishes.

The Lobby Lounge is the perfect afternoon setting for conversation over a cup of Earl Grey. After hours, The Bar and Nyx & Nox are popular gathering places.

For meetings and conferences, the three ballrooms feature space which can be tailored to any need. With dimensions of 7101 square feet, 3766 square feet and 3228 square feet, each ballroom offers state-of-the-art audio-visual capability.
