Business Services Industry
Initiative to assist exporters
Business Asia, August 30, 1999
Companies in Victoria will be better able to tackle international markets following the launch of a new service for exporters.
The government recently introduced Ai Group-International, an initiative of the Australian Industry Group (AIG). It also announced support for an initiative that will give Victorian business an opportunity to leverage international interest from the Olympic Games.
Ai Group-International is specifically designed for companies wanting to develop overseas markets.
The program will provide members with intelligence on business opportunities and knowledge of how markets operate. In addition, it will give them access to key market contacts as well as the expertise to enable them to capture business opportunities.
Concurrently, the Victorian Government announced its support for Business Club Australia, which will be run nationally and is an initiative to link international and Australian business people under the aegis of the 2000 Olympics. AIG is a Business Club Australia partner.
Membership will be made up of international business people interested in buying from, or investing in, Australian companies which are exporting, as well as international business people who may visit Australia in the lead-up to the Sydney 2000 Games.
Tourism Minister Louise Asher also hopes to use Sydney's Olympics to draw international guests to Melbourne.
Additional Victorian government funds have been allocated to a program to take advantage of Australia's world exposure during the Games.
