Vineyard tops in Tasmania - business awards

Premium wine producer Piper's Brook Vineyard is Tasmania's 1999 Exporter of the Year.

Tasmania's Premier Jim Bacon, who presented the award at a dinner at the Grand Chancellor Hotel in Hobart on October 15, said Piper's Brook was an excellent example of a quality-based export business whose successes helped to lift Tasmania's overall profile.

The Premier congratulated the winners and sponsors for contributing to the largest Export Awards yet held in Tasmania.

Tasmanian category winners were:

* Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Emerging Exporter Award: Hazard Systems.

Business Aurora Small to Medium Manufacturer Award: Piper's Brook Vineyard.

* Tasmanian Electronic Commerce Centre Information Industries Award: Protocol Information Technology.

* Mazengarb, Leo Burnett Services Award: W. Chung Sing & Co.

* WIN Television Arts/Entertainment Award: Terrapin Theatre.

* Austrade Minerals Award: Minecom.

* The Examiner Education Award: AMC Search.

* Ansett International Air Freight Agribusiness Award: Tasmanian Alkaloids.

* Export Finance Insurance Corporation Large Advanced Manufacturer Award: Incat Australia.
