Hong Kong to launch trade site

Business Asia, March 3, 2000

Australian exporters to Hong Kong will soon have access to the latest economic and trade information about the special administrative region thanks to a new Website.

The Hong Kong Economic Forum -- a new section being included in the Trade Development Council's (TDC) site -- will feature in-depth analyses on the Hong Kong economy provided by the region's leading analysts.

"Prominent business economists and think-tank members from reputable organisations will contribute their independent and detailed analyses on Hong Kong's latest economic developments and policy issues to the Economic Forum," TDC deputy executive director Anna Lai said.

Organisations contributing to the Economic Forum will include HSBC, Bank of China, Citibank NA, Standard Chartered Bank, the Bank of East Asia, the Hong Kong Centre for Economic Research and the Hong Kong Policy Research Institute. The TDC's research department will also include its papers.

The TDC Trade Portal is scheduled for launch in early 2000.
