INDONESIA

Grand Hyatt, Jakarta

Last year's winner of the Award for Best Business Hotel in Indonesia is back again to stake its claim to the 2001 title. The Grand Hyatt Jakarta is situated in the capital city's prime downtown business district, and is conveniently close to both government offices as well as Jakarta's biggest shopping mall, Plaza Indonesia. The hotel has 447 rooms, 18 executive suites, 15 apartments and two grand suites, each with individual air conditioning and lighting controls, a private bathroom, electronic safe, TV with satellite connection and direct dial telephones. Guests also have access to 24-hour dry cleaning and laundry services, and a fully equipped gym. The hotel maintains an exclusive Regency Club, which encompasses the top six floors of the hotel. The hotel also has a business centre, which includes secretarial, typing, photocopying and translation services, and an information library on local commerce.

Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta

Located next to the Welcome Monument, the Mandarin Oriental Jakarta is in the heart of Jakarta's CBD. The Mandarin Oriental has 419 suites and luxury apartments, all with 24-hour room service. Each room is furnished with an in-room safe deposit box, international direct dial telephones and voicemail, satellite TV with 23 multi-lingual channels and individual air-conditioning. The hotel also has a fully equipped business centre which provides guests with internet access, secretarial and translation services, personal computing facilities and rental mobile phones.

The Regent, Jakarta

Helping business travellers do their business better is one of the major aims of The Regent, Jakarta. Equipped with an around the clock health club, business centre, laundry and valet services, The Regent promises its guests the latest and most sophisticated business facilities anytime they need them. Centrally located within the city's "golden triangle", the hotel has 376 rooms, ranging from deluxe rooms to The Regent suite. Each has its own private balcony overlooking the hotel's six acres of stunning landscape gardens. All guests are entitled to 24-hour room service. The Regent also has a business centre with private conference rooms, and The Regent Club, which houses six private meeting rooms.

Shangri-La, Jakarta

The Shangri-La Jakarta took out the award for Best Business Hotel in Indonesia in 1999 and promises to be a tough competitor in the 2001 Hotel Awards. The Shangri-La Jakarta has 668 rooms, including 40 suites and three specially equipped handicapped suites. Each room is fitted with three IDD telephone lines with fax and PC points, voicemail, electronic safe, minibar and satellite TV. Guests staying in the 77 Horizon Club rooms can also take advantage of express check-in and check-out facilities, complimentary butler services, full use of the fitness centre and access to the executive lounge. The Shangri-La Jakarta also houses a 24-hour executive business centre, which maintains a full range of business services and 14 meeting rooms. The hotel also has an impressive ballroom, which can seat up to 3000 people.

INDIA

Welcomegroup Maurya Sheraton, New Delhi

The Maurya Sheraton New Delhi is a new entrant in the Best Business Hotels in Asia Awards, competing for the first time in this year's competition. Each of the 500 luxury rooms and suites within the hotel and towers complex features 24-hour butler services, interactive TV, internet access and complimentary use of the boardroom. Executive rooms also include personalised check-in and out, individual work tables with telephone extensions, voicemail and mobile phone rental services. The hotel also has a Towers Club, which includes a lounge bar, reference library and private dining rooms with complimentary breakfast.

The Oberoi Grand, Calcutta

The Oberoi Grand is a historic Victorian-style building which houses modern, luxurious facilities. Located in the commercial centre of Calcutta, and only 45 minutes from the airport, the Oberoi Grand has 250 rooms and suites all with 24-hour room service. Standard room features include international direct dial telephones, cable TV, in-room safes and minibar. Catering especially for the business executive, the hotel has a 24-hour business centre and three private meeting rooms available for free use. The hotel also boasts a large banquet hall which can seat up to 1000 people.

The Oberoi Towers, Mumbai

Situated on Marine Drive, the main promenade within the business and shopping district of downtown Mumbai, the Oberoi Towers in Mumbai is one of the most distinguished hotels in the East. Overlooking the Arabian Sea, the hotel has 575 rooms and suites, each adorned with international direct dial telephones, 24-hour cable TV and personalised butler service. The hotel maintains a 24-hour business centre, which offers guests a full range of services such as internet access, translation and interpretation as well as the use of private offices and conference rooms. The hotel also has five specialty restaurants and a fully air-conditioned shopping centre with over 200 shops located in its premises.
