Hall of fame unveiled at export awards launch - Freight And Shipping - Brief Article
Business Asia, June, 2002
The 39th Australian Export Awards have been officially launched, and now the build-up begins in earnest.
A number of events are planned over the months leading up to the national awards ceremony in November, including a top exporters panel discussion in Perth on June 26.
The first of several such discussions in different states, the luncheon, sponsored by Australia Post and the West Australian, is designed to bring together Western Australia's leading exporters to share knowledge of the industry.
On the panel will be Clough Engineering Ltd MD Robert Jewkes, Mary Nenke of Cambinata Yabbies and Stephen Wall, CEO of Lasata Software Pty Ltd.
Representatives from Austrade and ACCI will make up the remainder of the panel.
Held at the Sheraton Perth Hotel, the event also marks the first public address to a Perth audience given by new Austrade head Peter O'Byrne.
Those interested in attending can register online by visiting www.charlton.com.au/pertheventreg.asp.
> Applications openThe Australian Export Awards is one of the key events on the trade calendar, with the winning companies gaining valuable recognition of their efforts from both their peers and the public.
To be in the running for an Award, companies must first enter their relevant State/territory Export Awards. The winners of the State/Territory Awards automatically become finalists in the National event.
Applications for most of the State/Territory events will open this month, with the Northern Territory's already started. Tasmania's will open on 5 June.
Contact details for local organisers, and other information, are available via Susan Hamilton-Quay at the 2002 Australian Export Awards Secretariat, phone 02 9957 9802 or suehq@charlton.com.au, or visit www.charlton.com.au/exportawards or www.austrade.gov.au
