The Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry expects the economy to probably grow between for per cent and 4.5 per cent this year - Malaysia - Brief Article

Business Asia, August, 2003

The Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry expects the economy to probably grow between for per cent and 4.5 per cent this year. Manufacturing, which makes up two-thirds of industry, will probably grow 8.5 per cent. Services, including tourism and the financial industry, are predicted to grow 5.9 per cent.

In March, the Central Bank said it expects the economy to expand 4.5 per cent in 2003. The Government will maintain its forecast of 4.5 per cent growth for 2003, second Finance Minister Jamaludin Jarjis says. He says second quarter growth would be slower than in the first three months of the year, when the economy expanded four per cent from a year earlier.
