DHL launch state of the art Sydney Airport Development - Sponsor's Message

Business Asia, August, 2003

DHL Express and Sydney Airport Corporation Limited have formally announced the launch of a new DHL Sydney Airport development. The purpose built facility will see an initial investment by DHL in excess of $8 million for development of a state of the art gateway facility at the former Virgin Domestic Express Terminal, Car Park and existing DHL Gateway Area.

Plans for the facility include a 6,145m-purpose built warehouse, which will allow the processing of an estimated 20,000 shipments, more than 90,000 kg of freight and the handling of 50 flights and trucks on a daily basis. In addition, DHL utilises an airside apron area operating a 727-200 series aircraft, running the only dedicated daily Trans-Tasman freighter between Sydney and Auckland.

Completion of the DHL Sydney Airport Development is expected by the end of quarter one 2004, with a significant ongoing investment in the next few years. Already offering customers innovative and customized solutions from a single source, the world's leading express and logistics company looks forward to making this the new hub for the Australia and Oceania regions.
