Austrade Chief To Step Down - Import and Investment Facilitation Agency - Brief Article

Business Asia, August, 2001

AFTER SIX YEARS at the helm of Australia's Federal trade and investment facilitation agency, Charles Jamieson has announced his intention to step down from his position as managing director of Austrade.

Jamieson's decision to resign brings about the end of a 30-year career providing professional assistance to Australia's exporters as a trade commissioner in Europe, North America and the Middle East.

Jamieson was appointed to the Austrade executive in 1991, and became managing director in 1996. Under his leadership, Austrade's focus on continuous improvement in client service and strong performance management have seen the agency's positive client satisfaction rating exceed 80 per cent.

Some of Jamieson's career highlights include the highly successful business program Business Club Australia, linked to the Sydney Olympics, and the creation of the corporate university, the Austrade Institute.

Jamieson's tenure as managing director will conclude in August 2002.
