Australia's 50 Most Beautiful Exports shine

SOME OF AUSTRALIA'S leading exporters gathered at the Sydney Opera House last month for the official unveiling of Australia's 50 Most Beautiful Exports for 2001.

Award recipients in each of the 10 categories were on hand to receive their accolades at the gala cocktail party, which was proudly sponsored by Columbus Line. The 50 Most Beautiful Exports list was first conceived by Overseas Trading Magazine in 2000 to recognise leading exporters who promote the beauty and excellence of Australian people and products.

Now in its second year, the list has gone from strength to strength, and continues to attract widespread attention throughout Australia.

Special guest and keynote speaker at this year's event was Federal Opposition Shadow Trade Minister Peter Cook, who praised all of the award recipients for their efforts in promoting a positive Australian image abroad.

Cook also called for a greater focus on art and design within Australia, and called for research and development concessions usually restricted to scientific fields to be extended to fashion and design.

Another special guest was entertainer David Atkins, who received an Award for his work on the Sydney Olympic Games.
