Ken's been there, Done that - South Korea

Business Asia, May 17, 1999

Australian painter and designer Ken Done will continue his long association with Japanese magazine Hanako into the new millennium after last year signing a three-year deal to produce cover art.

In the past 10 years, Mr Done has been the sole contributor of cover designs for the top-selling Japanese lifestyle magazine.

Hanako sells about 400,000 copies per week to young professional Japanese women, mostly aged between 24 and 30. Since his first solo exhibition in Sydney in 1980, Mr Done has become one of Australia's best-known and most prolific artists, holding more than 40 one-man exhibitions in Australia, Japan and France.

Mr Done's weekly Hanako covers -- more than 500 in all in the past decade -- represent his enormous popularity in Japan, with his use of rich, flamboyant hues and personal imagery appealing to the younger Japanese generation.
