Delphi Joins Global Radio

Communications Today, May 30, 2002

Global Radio S.A., a fledgling satellite radio venture in Munsbach, Luxembourg, signed a letter of intent with consumer electronics firm Delphi [DPH] to develop Europe's first satellite-direct digital radio service. Under this agreement, Delphi will design and develop satellite-direct radios for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in Global Radio's European market.

This key OEM announcement comes on the heels of Global Radio's appointment of Bruce L. Crockett as the company's administrateur delegue and its selection of SG Cowen as its investment banker to lead its second round of financing.

Delphi is a large provider of OEM satellite receivers in North America. It is manufacturing satellite radios for both American satellite radio broadcasters XM Satellite Radio [XMSR] and Sirius Satellite Radio [SIRI]. Global Radio expects its Delphi receivers will be available for European automotive installation when it introduces its satellite-direct radio service.
