Survey Weighs Future U.S. Telecom Performance
Communications Today, June 4, 2002
The Strategis Consulting Group has set July 18 as the date it will release the findings of its biannual "Strategis Tracking Survey: The U.S. Telecom Performance Index." The tracking survey, developed last year by Strategis, surveys global telecom executives and consultants regarding resource allocation, spending expectation and economic recovery time for the United States and global telecommunications economy.
The survey, originally constructed and presented as a quarterly tracking study, has evolved into a semiannual mechanism. The latest survey results, published this past February, suggest that confidence among telecom executives is beginning to rebound. Further, the survey results show that on a sector-by-sector basis within the telecom industry, significant variations are beginning to become obvious with respect to economic recovery time. These expectations are underscored by a continuing commitment by the industry to leverage existing customers and infrastructure, and delay network deployments and upgrades.
