IP Telephony Research Tool Unveiled

Communications Today, July 23, 2002

InfoTech, a division of PBI Media, has just unveiled its ROI Analysis and Decision Support Tool For IP Telephony Network and Application Deployment, the newest of its financial analysis tools focusing on delivering executive-caliber, business case-grade economic assessments of high-impact communications technologies and applications.

Although current market research indicates that almost half of U.S. enterprises have, since the end of 2001, initiated some form of IP telephony, an increasing number of corporate decision-makers now are requiring clear and concise justification of the financial paybacks from convergence before they authorize funding for full-scale deployments.

The new tool has the ability to capture the "investment protection" that comes from re-using existing network components as well as the implications of different depreciation approaches, tax rates, and salvage values, and the before-and-after expenses associated with convergence. And since most businesses are likely to deploy IP telephony on a phased basis, the tool has the ability to prepare ROI views that account for multi-year rollouts across multiple locations.
