Wireless location and messaging software architect TeleCommunication Systems [TSYS] and Mobileway, a provider of wireless content delivery and mobile data transaction technologies in Asia-Pacific and Europe, will collaborate to create the largest short-messaging service network.
The companies plan to provide a single access point to more than 375 million phones for two-way messaging and 675 million phones for one-way messaging by utilizing more than 85 direct connections with carriers worldwide.
Annapolis, Md.-based TeleCommunication will be Mobileway's North America partner in delivering SMS messages to wireless customers in the continent. San Ramon, Calif.-based Mobileway will deliver messages outside North America from TeleCommunication's network. The companies plan to pursue direct connect agreements with North American carriers and establish premium content revenue share deals with carriers on behalf of their media and enterprise clients.
