MTN To Provide Newspapers Via Satellite
Communications Today, Sept 18, 2002
Maritime Telecommunications Network will use its satellite capacity to offer major newspapers to passengers of the Norwegian Cruise Line. Miramar, Fla.-based Maritime Telecommunications owned by Verestar, formed a strategic alliance with NewspaperDirect to allow people on sea-going vessels to receive same-day editions of newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal and USA Today. The publications would be transmitted with all editorial and advertising content via satellite and the Internet.
The "OceanNews" version of the newspapers available on the cruise ships would be 11 inches by 17 inches. The version would be digitally printed on laser printers, which prevents ink from rubbing off on readers' hands.
