Optelecom Posts 3Q Profit

Fiber optic communications provider Optelecom [OPTC] reported Monday a 2001 third-quarter profit of $199,000, or 7 cents a share, compared to a net loss of $3.8 million, or $1.52 per share, during the same period a year ago.

The company had predicted earlier this year that it would be profitable before the end of 2001.
