PacketVideo, Qualcomm Stoke Digital Media Competition
Communications Today, Nov 4, 2002
Competition in the digital media wireless delivery space increases with PacketVideo licensing portions of pvPlayer software as the streaming video technology for Qualcomm's [QCOM] MSM6xxx mobile station modem CDMA chipsets. The companies will create a new generation of Qualcomm's Qtv standards-compliant MPEG-4 streaming video player for mobile devices by combining customized modules of pvPlayer embedded software with Qualcomm's internally developed MPEG-4 codec software. This collaboration comes the same week that RealNetworks [RNWK] released its Helix DNA Client source code to developers in order to open up the digital media delivery space.
