PanAmSat Taps Frownfelter For Top Technology Post

Wilton, Conn.-based PanAmSat Corp. [SPOT] Monday named James B. Frownfelter as executive vice president and chief technology officer at the company. In his new role, Frownfelter will be responsible for the company's global fleet of 21 satellites, terrestrial infrastructure, and customer service operations center in Atlanta. In addition, he will oversee the design and development of enhanced products and services using PanAmSat's core satellite assets. Frownfelter replaces Robert Bednarek, who has left the company.
Previously, Frownfelter was senior vice president of space systems, managing PanAmSat's satellite design and procurement process as well as the placement of satellites in orbit. He also oversaw the acquisition of additional orbital slots for the development and deployment of ground infrastructure to support the company's satellite network.
Frownfelter began working as a consultant to PanAmSat in 1996, where as the senior manager of Philip A. Rubin & Associates, he developed PanAmSat's current fleet deployment strategies and satellite and launch vehicle procurement activities. Frownfelter joined PanAmSat in 1998 as vice president of space systems. >TK
