Radarsat International Signs Pact To Distribute Data in Columbia
Communications Today, Nov 15, 2001
Canada's Radarsat International (RSI) announced Tuesday that Prosis, of Santafe de Bogota, Colombia, has signed a three-year, non-exclusive distribution agreement with RSI to distribute Radarsat-1 data products in Colombia.
Prosis will be expanding its capability to respond to users' requirements in Colombia by adding Radarsat-1 data and services, its officials said.
"Radarsat data is complementary to our optical data sources and will allow Prosis to offer a more comprehensive suite of products," said Helena Gutierrez, president of Prosis. "As well, given the Colombian climate's tendency towards perpetually overcast skies and heavy cloud cover, we look forward to offering our clients the benefits of Radarsat's all-weather imaging capability. We are very pleased with this new partnership with RSI and hope that it will allow us to open new market areas, develop new marketing strategies, and help advance new technology applications that will aid in the improvement of our country's development."
Pamela Welgan, RSI's sales director for Latin America, said, "This latest distribution agreement allows RSI to leverage Prosis' experience, success, and knowledge of the GIS and Earth- observation industry and local markets in this region, thereby expanding our presence in Colombia."
RSI's primary data applications in Colombia include cartographic generation, flood detection and monitoring, offshore oil seep detection, and on-shore hydrocarbon exploration. RSI is headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia. >TK MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates [MDA]:
