Alaska's GCI Says It Had Strong Growth Last Year

Anchorage, Alaska - based integrated communications company GCI [GNCMA], which provides cable television, high-speed Internet, local, wireless and long- distance telephone services in Alaska, said in a pre-announcement statement of earnings that it expects to have record growth for 2001.
Although, detailed results for the full year 2001 and the three months ended Dec. 31, 2001 won't be released until next month, GCI said it now has more than 70,000 Internet subscribers, with over 26,500 using its broadband cable modem service.
GCI owns and operates cable television services in 18 of Alaska's largest communities and is the state's largest ISP.
