Yahoo [Nasdaq: YHOO] and BT Group [NYSE: BTY] on Wednesday announced an agreement to jointly promote Yahoo! UK Plus, a new Internet access product that gives BT broadband customers multiple email accounts, digital photo storage, anti-virus software and firewall security. The service is expected to launch later this quarter, though the price has yet to be determined. BT charges about 28 pounds ($45.28) a month for its basic consumer broadband package. The companies plan to expand the alliance in the future to include additional broadband access services and price plans. This past month, Yahoo reported a fourth-quarter profit of $46.2 million, or 8 cents per share, compared with a loss of $8.7 million, or 2 cents a share, in its 2001 fourth quarter. Analysts had projected the company to post a profit of 6 cents per share, according to research firm Thomson First Call.
