DT's IT Unit To Focus On Large Customers

Communications Today, March 10, 2003

T-Systems, the information technology unit of German telecom giant Deutsche Telekom AG [NYSE: DT], on Friday disclosed that it is reorganizing operations to better serve its 50 largest corporate customers. The changes are aimed at serving clients in four main industry lines: telecommunications, services and finance, public and healthcare and manufacturing.

The company will assign key account managers to look after its biggest customers while the responsibility for large orders will go to the company's specialized project teams. In November, DT reported a loss of 24.5 billion euros ($24.6 billion) for the first nine months of 2002, compared to a loss of 1 billion euros ($1.01 billion) for the same period a year ago. The loss, which was the largest in German corporate history, was mostly due to write-downs of wireless assets and licenses.
