Cometa's Hotspots Ticketed For Ipass

Communications Today, March 10, 2003

Wi-Fi access aggregator iPass will work with Cometa Networks to include Cometa's planned Wi-Fi hotspots in its Global Broadband Roaming Service for enterprise customers. Cometa expects to begin rolling out its Wi-Fi network access in major U.S. markets during the fourth quarter this year.

Under the agreement, iPass (Redwood Shores, Calif.) plans to utilize access to Cometa's public hotspots for its emerging wireless broadband connectivity in hundreds of venues such as airports, visited hotels and conference centers in Asia, Europe and the United States. Cometa (San Francisco) launched in December 2002 to be a provider of Wi-Fi backhaul enabling mobile operators as well as Internet service providers, cable operators and localexchange carriers to offer LAN coverage to their customers-businesses as well as consumers.
