Vuico Has Smarts For NEC Phone
Communications Today, Jan 9, 2003
The U.S. market to deliver wireless data access to the enterprise has another competitor. NEC America (Houston), the U.S. division of consumer electronics giant NEC [NIPNY], is allied with wireless application vendor Vuico (Irving, Texas) to deliver advanced wireless products and services in the U.S. enterprise market.
The alliance will integrate Vuico's GoWireless wireless applications, based on NTT Software's Java-based Bluegrid middleware, with NEC's 515 mobile phone, scheduled for release during this quarter, to provide to access to corporate networks for e-mail, contacts, calendars and other programs. The combination brings to NEC's 515 the capabilities most frequently accessed on PDAs and laptops, and enables users to carry one device to meet all their wireless needs.
