ECI Telecom [ECILF] will supply digital subscriber line (DSL) technology to China's Sichuan Public Information Industry Co., ECI announced yesterday. ECI, an Israeli high-speed data provider, in June will deploy DSL over an asynchronous transfer mode network to Chinese subscribers. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed...
Hauppage, N.Y.-based Globecomm Systems Inc. [GCOM] secured a $2.4 million contract from Mercantile Information & Telecommunication Technology Co. Ltd. to provide a digital and analog satellite video system in the United Arab Emirates. The system will be capable of delivering direct-to-home programming on the Arabsat III satellite... Contract manufacturer Solectron Corp. [SLR] is poised to increase its exposure in the wireless market by partnering with Glenayre Technologies Inc. [GEMS] in RF design and manufacturing for paging network products and systems. The companies announced a letter of intent calling for Solectron, a major player among companies that handle production outsourced by computer and electronics manufacturers, to acquire Glenayre's Quincy, Ill., paging/messaging infrastructure production facility. The multi-year deal that also would make Solectron responsible for providing prototyping and assembly of new products. Other terms were not disclosed... Liquid crystal display (LCD) manufacturer Three-Five Systems Inc. [TFS] will collaborate with Qualcomm Inc. [QCOM] on the design and engineering of an LCD module for use in an upcoming CDMA cellular handset.
