Cisco and Citrix to help join in quest to offer performance enhancements over the net, WANs and VPNs

Cisco Systems and Citrix Systems Inc have agreed to co-develop technologies that will provide application service providers (ASPs) and enterprise customers with enhanced application performance over the Internet and across WANs and virtual private networks.

As part of the agreement, Citrix will support Cisco's Network-Based Application Recognition technology with its Independent Computing Architecture, enabling users to classify and prioritise Citrix-based network traffic.

In other news, Cisco has also partnered with Silknet Software Inc to provide companies with the network foundation and application software needed to build e-business systems.

As part of the alliance, Silknet will integrate its eBusiness System, a web-based platform for building customer-centric e-business applications, with Cisco's networking systems. The companies will also work together to pursue joint business opportunities.
