Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Telia have joined forces to conduct a pilot project to run WAP-based mobile Internet e-services on HP's e-speak electronic services platform.

During the trial Telia will deploy e-speak, which allows secure interactions across firewalls without pre-negotiated names and standards, across its mobile network, while Ericsson will provide its WAP systems and WAP-enabled terminals.

Following the pilot project, the partners plan to launch an e-speak enabled wireless e-service to a select group of engineering firms, which will allow field engineers to receive and update customer job information while on the road, as well as access the corporate phone and database directories.
