IBM has officially opened its new EMEA Advanced Internet Applications Centre which is designed to enable IBM to create technologies in order to help customers harness new Internet applications.
The centre is located in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands, and is intended to cover the needs of the European, Middle Eastern and African markets. It is believed that the next-generation Internet will have a bandwidth of up to 1,000 times greater than the current, existing connection. This will enable a whole new range of applications that may incorporate video, audio, data and transaction.
The centre in Zoetermeer is focussed on developing these advanced applications, especially in the fields of video/audio storage and distribution, distributed storage and collaborative applications.
