Communications systems provider Inter-Tel has launched ClearConnect Lite, its new system that allows web surfers to place phone calls through their PC to talk to customer support staff using the existing web connection.
The system enables PC users to make a free phone call over a web site by simply clicking on a ClearConnect Lite web page link. The first time the link is used a small Internet program will be installed on the caller's system which will then use the PC's sound card and microphone to communicate with the call receiver.
The smallest package of ClearConnect Lite for businesses will enable 20 customers to use the 'touch-to-talk' facility simultaneously on a web site. Pricing was not disclosed. A demonstration of how the system works can be seen at http://www.touch-to-talk.net.
