Cathay Pacific Airways to install new inflight Internet access

A new agreement has been signed between Cathay Pacific Airways, a Hong Kong-based carrier, and Tenzing Communications, an Internet service provider, that will see the carrier implement inflight e-mail and intranet services in Q2 2001.

Cathay Pacific Airways will install the EMPORT in-seat data system, which will allow passengers to use their laptop computers via a standard USB connection.

The EMPOWER in-seat power system will also be used to provide power outlets that will allow passengers to recharge their laptop and notebook computers.
