The UK-based pan-European online auction company QXL.com plc has been fined for using unlicensed software.
The company agreed to pay GBP34,000 to the global anti-software theft trade body Business Software Alliance (BSA) after an internal software audit showed that it had been 'unwittingly using unlicensed software', a spokesman said.
QXL.com added that it was now confident that all of its software use was '100% compliant'.
The BSA's web site at http://www.bsa.org offers information and advice on software piracy and internal software management issues.
