Online auctions are becoming popular in the UK, according to new research commissioned by e-commerce systems provider Instil.
The study, which questioned 2,000 persons, found that despite the fact that only 36% had bought goods or services online, 40% would consider buying items in an online auction in the future. Of those who would participate in an online auction, over 65% would like to use the service to get rid of unwanted items.
Most popular items for men to off-load online were cars and electrical goods, while women were keen to auction off boyfriends and husbands! On the other hand, the most popular items the respondents would bid for were holidays, electrical goods, airline tickets and books.
