Vingresor, a Swedish travel organiser, is to combine the travel industry with IT and sell trips online.
The sales, made via Ombro.com, are set to start on 1 February and the aim is to sell the trips SEK150-400 cheaper than more 'traditional' travel organisers. Vingresor cuts the costs by cutting away printed material such as catalogues and price lists as well as sales personnel.
According to Vingresor, the primary consumer group that is targeted with the new sales method are younger people, who are acquainted with both travelling and the Internet.
Ombro.com is a part of SLG (Scandinavian Leisure Group) and the travellers will be transported with the same aircraft as other travel companies in the group, while Ombro.com will have its 'own' hotels. SLG also have operations in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Poland.
