Yorkshire Bank introduces WAP mobile banking

Yorkshire Bank, part of the international financial services company National Australia Group, has launched a WAP-based mobile Internet banking service.
The service, which is currently being piloted around the UK and is to be rolled out during 3Q'2000, will enable the bank's customers to check balances, view account history, transfer funds, make bill payments and order statements and cheque books from their WAP-enabled mobile phones.
Developed by National Australia Group's in-house technology company NSITE the service uses strong 128-bit encryption and firewall technology.
