Airtours Plc has recently launched its e-commerce strategy, aiming to stop queuing at airports or hotels and luggage handling for package tourists.
The UK tour operator is to expand its US website mytravelco in to a global intergrated service that will enable the purchase of holidays on the Internet via mobile phones or interactive TV, according to Reuters.
Airtours chairman David Crossland is reported as saying that the company would be launching new websites to offer late-bookable flights and holidays and loyalty card schemes would enable customers to obtain cheaper holidays with discounts on travel-related products.
During this year Airtours apparently plans to launch a flycheap.com website throughout Europe to compete with low-cost airlines. Airtours confirmed talks with the Swiss aviation company SAirGroup regarding a possible combination of their tour-operating interests in Germany.
