Mindmaker Inc, a California-based developer of artificial intelligence technologies and products, has formed a partnership with the Internet company Lycos Asia to explore the commercialisation, application and development of web-based intelligent assistants.
As part of the alliance the companies have unveiled a new Internet-based intelligent portal assistant called Net Intelligence (NETi), which will be offered free via Lycos Asia's web sites.
The NETi software is designed to deliver a range of services to users' computer desktops, such as entertainment, assistance to Internet navigation, task reminders and checking e-mails. Two versions will be offered: a basic version with animation, text-based communication and link connection to web sites and an enhanced one with text-to-speech capabilities.
NETi is available immediately for free downloading from Lycos Asia's portal sites in Singapore and Malaysia and will be rolled out to the company's Indian and Philippine sites by the end of the month. Lycos Asia and Mindmaker also plan to introduce the product early next year to Chinese-speaking markets, including Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.
