Microsoft and Yahoo! report increase in online Christmas shopping

Online shopping over the Christmas period has increased in 2001 compared to previous years according to web portal Yahoo! and Microsoft Corp.
Yahoo! experienced an 86% increase in online sales volume over last year, bringing its total to USD10.3bn. The MSN network posted a 106% increase in its sales to USD5.6bn.
According to Yahoo!, its sales were led by video games consoles such as Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube with strong sales also in digital cameras, laptop computers, toys and clothes.
