The worth of the business-to-business (B2B) e-procurement market is expected to reach USD8bn by 2005, according to a new study by AMR Research.

The research, in which over 900 software vendors were surveyed, found that the market leader at the moment is Ariba followed by Commerce One, SAP AG, Peregrine Systems Inc and Oracle Corp.

AMR predicts that companies will continue to invest in B2B software and services. At the same time indirect procurement software is poised to become more complex and will handle not just office supplies but also multiple products. The study forecasts that the overall enterprise commerce management market will grow from USD108bn this year to USD264bn by 2005.
